As popular Memorial Day activities like backyard barbecues and pool parties get underway, you may unfortunately find that you’ve forgotten a variety of essentials, from sunscreen to hot dog rolls to pool toys.

If that happens to you, there’s a good chance you’ll decide that a Target run is in order to stock up on the items you need. But, with Memorial Day classified as an official federal holiday, a good number of retail stores are closed that day, including Costco.

Target is, in fact, open on Memorial Day. In fact, Target stores typically operate during normal business hours on the Memorial Day holiday, although store hours may vary by location.

Since your local Target may open or close earlier than expected on Monday, May 26, 2025, it’s worth a phone call to the store near you to find out exactly what hours to expect before you jump in the car.

You can use Target’s Find a Store feature to locate the telephone number of your nearest Target. Give them a quick call before heading out to ask what time the local Target opens and closes on Memorial Day. That way, you won’t end up disappointed, and you’ll be able to get your shopping done.
