Las Vegas Strip casino signs country legend megastar residency

Las Vegas casinos have a long-standing reputation for hosting some of the most popular country artists in the world.

In 1959, legendary Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys performed at the Showboat Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Country icon Patsy Cline was the first woman country star headliner in Las Vegas in the early 1960s with a 35-day engagement at The Mint downtown.

Country superstar Willie Nelson played the Golden Nugget in downtown Vegas in 1963 and continued performing in Vegas many times over the decades, including in October 2019 for his “Vegas On My Mind” residency at the Venetian Theatre at the Venetian Las Vegas.

Waylon Jennings headlined the Golden Nugget in March 1967, and he returned to Sin City many more times over the years.

Other popular country stars have taken the stage in Las Vegas, including Johnny Cash and Kenny Rogers. More recently, the Strip has hosted country stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Brooks & Dunn with Reba McEntire and George Strait, and Lady Antebellum, now known as Lady A.

Country music superstar Garth Brooks’ Las Vegas Strip residencies date back to his five-year Garth at Wynn residency that began in December 2009 at the Encore Theatre at Wynn Las Vegas and ended in January 2014.

Brooks wrapped up his sold-out, 54-show Plus One residency at Caesars Entertainment’s Colosseum at Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas Strip on March 8, 2025.

Country superstar Carrie Underwood concluded her long-running “Reflection: The Las Vegas Residency” engagement at the Resorts World Theater at Resorts World Las Vegas after 71 shows, finishing on April 12.

Dolly Parton returns to Strip for residency   

And now, legendary country megastar Dolly Parton returns to the Las Vegas Strip for her first extended engagement in 32 years as she performs her new six-show residency “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas” at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Dec. 4-13, 2025.

Parton’s residency, which runs during the National Finals Rodeo, will be a hit-driven concert series that will include seven decades of classic hits and fan favorites, including “9 to 5,” “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “Coat of Many Colors,” according to a statement.

More Las Vegas:

“To say I’m excited would be an understatement,” Parton said in the statement. “I haven’t worked in Vegas in years and I’ve always loved singing there. I’m looking forward to the shows in The Colosseum at Caesars and I hope you are as well. See You There!”

Tickets for the shows go on sale to the general public on June 25 at 10 a.m. Pacific time at Ticketmaster.

Parton previously performed at two Vegas hotel-casinos that no longer exist — a three-year residency at the Riviera Hotel beginning in February 1981, and a short residency at the Mirage in June 1993.
