Disney announces a new nighttime parade after nearly a decade

During the 2024 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event — a multi-day event where The Walt Disney Company  (DIS)  unveils its latest news, upcoming projects, and updates —the company made a revelation fans had been awaiting for nearly a decade.

Along with disclosing the launch of five new shows coming to Disney parks worldwide, the company announced the introduction of Disney Starlight, a new nighttime parade coming to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

While Magic Kingdom already has a lineup of evening shows and events, including its iconic Happily Ever After fireworks extravaganza, the park hasn’t had a new non-seasonal nighttime parade since The Main Street Electric Parade in 2016.

The Main Street Electric Parade debuted at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, in 1972 and featured floats with lights, music, and live performances. It was brought to Magic Kingdom in 1977 and ran for several years until it was discontinued in 2016.

Everything to know about Disney Starlight

Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away is a nighttime parade inspired by the Main Street Electrical Parade. It officially debuted on July 20 after hosting two soft-openings two days prior.

This latest addition to Magic Kingdom’s nighttime entertainment runs from Main Street U.S.A. to Frontierland twice every night. Each performance lasts about 11 minutes, with showtimes at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. through August 2.

More Entertainment News:

Although Disney confirmed that Disney Starlight will continue through Halloween and holiday seasons, the timing could change. However, the parade will not run during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Fans are encouraged to check the My Disney Experience App or the park’s entertainment schedule to confirm Disney Starlight’s showtimes and dates.
