Music superstars rarely debut their first Las Vegas Strip residency after they have retired from touring.
In most cases, singers and bands continue touring, and in some cases, resume recording music after concluding Vegas residencies.
Superstar rocker Lenny Kravitz debuted his first residency on the Strip with Blue Electric Light Las Vegas at MGM Resorts International’s Dolby Live at Park MGM for five shows in October 2024, after completing a European tour, and returned for five more shows in August 2025.
Kravitz is not at the end of his career, as he continues worldwide touring
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts played their first Vegas residency
Hard rock superstar band Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, whose “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for seven weeks in 1982, launched their first Las Vegas Strip residency at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay in June 2025 when Jett was 66 years old.
But Jett continued touring for several shows after her residency was completed and has no plans to retire anytime soon.
Pop singer Josh Groban wrapped up his “first-ever exclusive Las Vegas engagement, ” a five-show exclusive Gems residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, on May 17.
The “You Raise Me Up” singer’s residency promoted the release of his “Gems” retrospective album, including his biggest hit songs.
Groban has not retired from touring either, as he performed two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Sept. 5-6, months after his Colosseum residency.
Rap star 50 Cent continues touring
Rap superstar 50 Cent debuted his first Las Vegas Strip residency, “50 Cent: In Da Club,” at Caesars Entertainment’s PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on Dec. 27, 2024, for six shows that closed on Jan. 4, 2025.
The residency came after 50 Cent’s Final Lap Tour, from June 2023 to March 2024, which celebrated the 20th anniversary of the rap star’s “Get Rich or Die Tryin” album.
50 Cent did not quit touring after his residency, as he launched his Legacy Tour in Europe in May 2025.
