- The craft brewery files for bankruptcy a second time, after first filing in 2019.
- The brewery currently features 13 beers on tap in its taproom.
- The craft brewer sells its beers at 50 bars and restaurants and through 115 retailers and distributors.
Reports of a craft beer apocalypse over the last two years were met with an encouraging survey from the Brewers Association in its Midyear Market Report in July that revealed 50% of breweries producing less than 1,000 barrels annually expected growth in production in 2025, while 43% predicted a decline.
Small taprooms and brewpubs, however, make up only 15% of the overall volume in the craft beer industry, but they represent a whopping 73% of craft businesses, the Brewers Association reported.
Craft beer volume declined by 5% by mid-year
The report estimated that craft beer volume had declined about 5% by mid-year 2025 compared to 2024, and craft brewery closings were outpacing openings, with the number of operating breweries declining by 1% to 9,269 in June 2025, compared to 9,352 in June 2024.
Some craft breweries, taprooms, and brew pubs were able to avoid shutting down their businesses by filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to reorganize their businesses and restructure debt.
Among the companies filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the second half of this year and continuing to operate are Flagship Taproom owner Loaded Barrel LLC on Oct. 28, Bosque Brewing Company on Oct. 6, The Grange Public House & Brewery on Sept. 22, Memphis Made Brewing Company on Aug. 7, and Three Weavers Brewing Company on July 24.
