Lawrence also invests in cryptocurrencies. After signing with the Jaguars in the 2021 NFL Draft, a significant amount of his $22.6 million signing bonus was put into an account with the cryptocurrency investment app Blockfolio, according to Forbes. This portion of the bonus—the specific amount wasn’t disclosed—consisted of a variety of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. William Trevor Lawrence was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on October 6, 1999. He was a standout quarterback at Cartersville High School in Cartersville, Georgia.
Lawrence’s high school football career
In 2016, his junior year, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution named him its all-classification player of the year with a 61.6% passing completion rate, throwing for 3,904 yards and 51 touchdowns. The Jacksonville Jaguars picked Lawrence, who was the overall number one pick, in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Jaguars were coming off the 2020 season with a 1–15 record, and were looking to turn around a three-year losing streak after ending last in the AFC South division during that time.
The Jaguars went 3–14 in Lawrence’s first season in 2021, but then went 9–8 in 2022 to win the division and to make the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
