With the holiday season approaching as fast as Santa’s sleigh, many are already thinking ahead to the winter blues they will inevitably feel and planning a sunny getaway to help escape those doldrums.
Airlines are also in the final stages of announcing their Caribbean and other sun-seeking schedules for the start of 2026.
Earlier this fall, American Airlines announced new flights to Mexico’s Puerto Escondido and Bimini in The Bahamas, while Delta Air Lines started new service to St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Granada from Atlanta.
Frontier Airlines is now the latest carrier to announce an expansion to several tropical destinations from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL). Throughout December, the Denver-based low-cost airline will stagger new flights to St. Maarten, The Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, and Mexico.
The first two flights, between St. Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) in Simpson Bay and Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) in Nassau, launched on Dec. 6. A new route to Providenciales on Turks and Caicos will also run for the first time on Dec. 20.

Two other new routes to Puerto Vallarta and San José Del Cabo will also start running on the coming Sunday once a week as the airline looks to expand its service to more Mexican destinations.
San José Del Cabo is a coastal town located at the tip of the Baja California Sur peninsula but north of the more popular Los Cabos International Airport (SJD).

“There’s a lot to be excited about as the new year approaches […] and we’re thrilled to offer travelers even more affordable flight options from Atlanta as we continue to grow,” Frontier VP of Network And Operations Design Josh Flyr said in a statement.
In one standout to the five tropical routes, Frontier is also starting a new flight between Atlanta and Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) twice a week from Dec. 19. The new flights will bring the total number of destinations to which Frontier flies from Atlanta to 61.

The rates are for one direction and can be booked online on the Frontier website by typing in the cities directly into the search function before midnight on Dec. 30 for travel between Jan. 5 and Apr. 13, 2026.

The main restriction are the blackout dates during the most popular Spring Break periods in March and April.
To secure the lower rate, travelers must book the flight at least 14 days in advance. The price does not include airport taxes or baggage fees. Passengers can, however, buy both the round-trip fare and the flight in only one direction.
