Elevated grocery prices are still on many Americans’ minds, given that the Consumer Price Index, compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, was stuck at 2.7% for the month ending in November. As a result, shoppers are often looking for both convenience and value during this busy time of year.

And while Kroger’s specials aren’t the viral sensations that some specialty groceries see, its holiday products — including party platters, and winter comfort foods — tend to be crowd pleasers this time of year.

Whether you’re planning a big New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day party, or just making sure the pantry is stocked as kids get ready to go back to school, Kroger usually has you covered.

Is Kroger open on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day?

If you’re hoping to make a grocery run on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day, Kroger is a convenient option, since the chain operates some 2,700 stores nationwide.

And unlike some large supermarkets, including Costco and Sam’s Club, Kroger stays open on the year’s first major holiday.

Kroger is also open on New Year’s Eve (Wednesday, Dec. 31), but likely with reduced hours — most stores and fuel centers close by 6 p.m., and pharmacy counters typically close earlier, around 5 p.m., according to Kroger’s stated policy.

Because hours can vary slightly by region, shoppers should double-check their local Kroger store hours before heading out.
