Disney shuts down one of its most iconic restaurants

Opening its doors in 1992 as the fourth resort under the wider Disney umbrella, Disneyland Paris is currently preparing to open a new version of what in 2002 became the second Walt Disney Studios park: the reworked Disney World of Adventure will open on March 29 and have different lands from newer films including World of Frozen, Worlds of Pixar and Marvel Avengers Campus.

The completed area will feature several new rides, 15 new dining establishments, a second Frozen castle to rival Sleeping Beauty’s in the main Disneyland park and a reconstructed main promenade taking visitors throughout the park and the different lands.

But with years of construction in one park finally ending for a grand opening, the Disneyland Paris management is taking advantage of the redirected traffic and public interest in checking out the new park to start on some major renovations in the other one.

Annette’s Diner has closed down for several months of renovations

Annette’s Diner, a restaurant designed in the style of a 1950s-style American diner and serving loosely American dishes like chili hot dogs, chicken wings, onion rings and cheesecake, opened with the rest of the Disney Village in the main Disneyland park in April 1992.

It has since become one of the most famous restaurants at the park and one of the ones that many families specifically hope to experience on their visit — the dome-like front facade greets guests with a road carpet and bright “Annette’s Diner” sign while the inside has pink booths and pink-and-green swivel chairs in front of a milkshake counter.

But as of Jan. 5, Annette’s has closed down for extensive renovations of both the kitchen and the dining area. The main area will retain its retro vibe with a new chrome counter and booths that will look like 1950s-era car seats in bright pink, green and yellow colors. The front will also be reworked to light up in bright pink and green neon lighting for even more of a vibe from that rock-and-roll era.

Early renderings show what Annette’s Diner is expected to look like once renovations are complete.

When does Annette’s Diner in Disney Paris reopen to guests?

Disneyland Paris has not committed to an official opening date so the closure could last many months before the diner is once again welcoming visitors. While some local outlets got early glimpses of the construction, current predictions say the diner may not be ready until late 2026 or 2027.

The park management has spaced out both ride and restaurant renovations in a way that still leaves visitors able to check out some of the other themed establishments while the other one is closed.

The Sports Bar & Lounge also in Disney Village reopened after a monthslong renovation in November 2025 — the new works included a facade with Goofy and Big Hero 6 characters — while construction of a two-story Italian restaurant named Casa Giuila offering quick-service pizza and an expanded McDonald’s location are currently underway and expected to be ready for guests by 2026.

The new restaurant replacing the current location in Disney Village near Lake Disney will, once opened, officially be the largest McDonald’s in France.
