Tubi makes a major move to bring in millions of viewers

Although competition in the streaming world is fierce, it is important to remember that streaming platforms also compete for the attention of younger viewers, who spend their time on social video platforms such as TikTok and YouTube.

Sometimes, however, these social video platforms can actually help streamers reach more viewers. Industry data suggest that social video apps such as TikTok are a key place where younger generations first learn about TV shows and movies, according to recent Hub Entertainment Research findings cited by StreamTV Insider

Per Hub, 59% of viewers aged 13 to 24 and 65% of those aged 25-34 say they often discover new TV shows and movies by watching clips on apps like TikTok and Instagram.

Meanwhile, the popularity of Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV (FAST) services is rising, with approximately 69% of households using at least one, according to recent Circana data reported by Ctam.

The same report suggests that the top four FAST services during the second half of 2025 were Roku, Tubi, Pluto, and Prime Video.

Tubi has been making interesting moves lately in order to attract more viewers and maintain its position among the top-rated FAST services. The latest one uses the power of social media platforms, and it might attract millions of viewers.

Tubi partners with TikTok creators to create exclusive Creatoverse Incubator

Tubi shared on March 19 that it is partnering with TikTok to create a Creatoverse Incubator. Per the official press release, TikTok aims to support TikTok’s creators, enabling them to develop their original shows for the streaming platform.

Through this deal, creators will have a chance to reach more than 100 million of Tubi’s monthly active users. These shows, spanning a variety of genres (both scripted and unscripted formats), will premiere exclusively on Tubi.

Additionally, TikTok will leverage TikTok Spotlight to drive fan conversation to these original series on Tubi.

“This partnership allows us to work with successful TikTok creators who are ready to take the next step creatively, expanding their fandoms to new audiences on Tubi and bringing Tubi fans more stories they can’t find anywhere else,” stated Tubi Manager of Creator Programs Rich Bloom.

Tubi-TikTok partnership key highlights

  • The selection: This summer, a specific group of TikTok stars will be chosen to join the program.
  • The content: These creators will make both scripted shows (like comedies or dramas) and unscripted shows (like reality TV or documentaries).
  • The reach: Once the shows are finished, they will stream exclusively on Tubi, giving these creators access to Tubi’s 100 million monthly users.

Why did Tubi partner with TikTok creators?

Tubi’s new deal showcases a clear motivation to attract more viewers to its platform amid aggressive competition in the streaming space.

Industry data demonstrate just how much viewers value authentic content. In fact, 67% of respondents think creators (like those on TikTok) are more original than most traditional TV and movies, according to the Stream 2026: When Intention Becomes Attention report from Fox’s Tubi, based on Harris Poll results reported by TvTechnology

The report also highlights that demand for originality is rising, and 76% of those surveyed say they want more programming from independent or smaller creators.

Tubi’s partnerships with TikTok will further differentiate the platform from competitive streamers like Netflix and Hulu, as it will offer unique content viewers won’t get anywhere else.

Additionally, while the number of subscribed followers on TikTok isn’t publicly available, the number of regular followers is, and some top creators have huge followings.

For example, TikTok’s most-followed account belongs to “the king of the deadpan facial expression Khaby Lame,” who has around 160.3 million followers, according to Mashable

Why Tubi’s TikTok deal matters for viewers, creators, and subscribers

As highlighted in the above industry data, viewers want more original content, such as that coming from TikTok creators.

As for creators, they might also benefit from this opportunity, since their content will reach a wide group of Tubi’s subscribers. As that content transitions from phone screens to big-screen TVs, creators will expand their fan base.

With this move, TikTok helped its most talented users build long-term careers in the entertainment industry, proving that the platform might be the perfect place to begin one’s creative journey.

“TikTok is committed to empowering creators on our platform and throughout their career journey. Our creators have built deeply engaged audiences on TikTok, and our partnership with Tubi will give the next generation of entertainers more opportunities to expand their audiences, tell bigger stories, and turn their creativity into lasting impact,” stated TikTok Global Head of Entertainment Partnerships Dawn Yang.

TikTok followers and subscribers will probably be excited to see their favorite niche creator finally having the budget to make the movie or show they’ve always wanted to see.

“Viewers embrace how easy and fun it is to watch social and creator videos at YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. As this content continues to migrate from mobile phones to living room TV sets, there’s great opportunity to develop even more compelling creator programming — as well as unique ways to promote traditional TV and movies via those social platforms,” said Jason Platt Zolov, study author and Senior Consultant at Hub, as reported by StreamTV Insider
