A mid-weight jacket like the Amazon Essentials Quilted Puffer Jacket is the perfect in-between coat that’s insulating without being overly heavy, and right now it’s on sale at Amazon just ahead of their October Prime Days event.

Why do shoppers love it?

Quilted jackets, by design, are exceptionally better at providing warmth because the special stitched construction of them distributes heat and insulates more evenly. At the same time, although they are incredibly warm they aren’t overly bulky the way a long parka or coat would be which is why they are great for all seasons but particularly fall and spring when the weather is in a transitional phase. 

This coat has a nylon shell with a sherpa-lined interior. The exterior is water-resistant so it will keep moisture from permeating the jacket’s surface if you get caught in a quick storm, but it’s not water-repellent so if you’re exposed to a constant stream of water it will inevitably soak through the jacket. The midweight sherpa fleece is made from polyester, which gives it a long-lasting durable quality with no pilling or shedding that can leave extra fuzz on your clothing. It provides extra insulation without adding bulk and is surprisingly lightweight. The pockets are even lined with sherpa fleece, and overall the fabric gives the inside of the jacket a cozy teddy-like texture that you want to snuggle up in.

The quilted pattern doesn’t just provide warmth but it also makes the jacket look extremely flattering on a variety of silhouettes and gives it a more feminine look. It has a front zipper closure, two split kangaroo front pockets, a hood with an adjustable bungee cord, and internal ribbed sleeves for even more comfort. There are also side slits along the hemline to allow for more movement and to keep the jacket from feeling restrictive.

Sherpa-lining is a big selling point for shoppers. It’s nice and thick, without being overly heavy, and it lines the interior and the pockets — but not the sleeves. “I really like that the wrist area has an extra layer of fabric that fits snugly to keep the cold out,” one shopper said. The jacket washes well and comes in nice colors that are more on the neutral side and go well with other clothing items. “It’s been a lifesaver with the cold and wind,” another shopper said. “Very warm and comfortable.”
