Nebius stock breaks below $200 as CoreWeave’s debt scare spreads

Most people who own Nebius stock watch its chart. Few watch the bond prices of its closest rival. On Wednesday, those bond prices moved the stock without Nebius saying a word.

Nebius Group N.V. (NBIS), which rents GPU computing power to AI developers, fell 10.1% to $186.01 on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. That close broke the $200 floor.

Donovan Jackson of The Chart Report had called $200 the line between a rebound and a faster slide a day earlier, Seeking Alpha reported.

The selling started somewhere else. Yields on CoreWeave Inc. (CRWV) bonds climbed toward 15% on fears that AI builders are borrowing too heavily, CNBC reported. CoreWeave sank more than 15%, and the fear jumped straight to its closest rival.

Jackson had flagged the weakness. Nebius broke lower from a tight chart pattern despite record Nasdaq highs, a sign the market was not backing rallies, he said.

CoreWeave’s bond slump sets the neocloud bar

CoreWeave pays 9.625% on notes due 2032, yet buyers now demand a 14.8% yield, the return lenders require to hold them, CNBC reported. That is a warning to every neocloud, the firms renting out AI computing power, since lenders rarely judge them in isolation.

Nebius’s first secured loan, $775 million raised in July, cost just 2.5 percentage points over SOFR, a benchmark rate, according to its shareholder letter. A contract with an investment-grade customer backed it.

Nebius plans more borrowing, the letter says, and any unsecured bond it sells now will be priced with CoreWeave’s 14.8% in the room.

Nebius stock closed at $186.01 on October 14, 2026, below the $200 level a chart analyst had flagged, as CoreWeave’s 2032 bond yield neared 15%.

Nebius’s stock price is also its cost of capital

Nebius has leaned on convertible notes, bonds that can later turn into shares. It sold roughly $10 billion of them in March and August, company filings show. Buyers take coupons as low as 0.50% in exchange for a shot at stock gains.

That makes the share price a funding gauge. The larger August series converts at about $313 a share, the pricing release shows, roughly 68% above Wednesday’s close. The further the stock sits below that price, the more those notes behave like plain debt.

The March notes sit closer to the edge, converting at roughly $180 to $183 a share, company filings show. If the stock stays below that range until maturity, Nebius owes cash, not shares.

Nebius also sold 12.7 million shares through June at an average of $223.60, the letter shows. At Wednesday’s close, each new share raises about 17% less, making future equity raises more dilutive.

Here is what the selloff ignores. About 70% of second-quarter deals included customer prepayments covering 50% to 60% of related capital spending, the letter says. Nebius expects over $9 billion of such payments in 2026, money that doesn’t hinge on bondholders’ mood.

What Nebius stock is saying after the selloff

Nebius sits about 27% below last week’s high near $255, the peak Jackson cited. Its 52-week range spans $73.52 to a record $299.86 set in June, according to StockAnalysis.

Its low as Nebius came on Monday, October 21, 2024, its first day back on Nasdaq. Shares fell about 26% before the opening bell, then closed at $20, Reuters reported. It still trades at over nine times that close.

Valuation leaves little room for a funding stumble. Nebius trades at about 38 times trailing sales and 7 times forward sales, StockAnalysis data shows. With $200 gone, the 200-day average near $173 is next, per the same data.

Wall Street has not blinked. The 22 analysts tracked by StockAnalysis rate Nebius a Buy, with an average target of $283.60, about 52% above Wednesday’s close. Targets run from $84 to $410, so the debate is nowhere near settled.

The latest calls, all before Wednesday’s bond scare:

  • Buy, $304 target: Rosenblatt Securities’ John McPeake initiated coverage on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
  • Sell: Rothschild & Co Redburn’s Alexander Haissl initiated coverage on Friday, September 25, 2026.
  • Upgrade to Outperform, $399 target from $260: Exane BNP Paribas’ Stefan Slowinski moved on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

Cheap money is now the scarcest input for GPU landlords

Demand is not the problem. Nebius’s second-quarter revenue jumped 454%, its shareholder letter shows. Yet deals signed that quarter mostly lift 2027 revenue, while capital spending ran about $5.7 billion that quarter.

That gap is where rates bite. Debt-heavy AI stocks slid Wednesday as bets on a U.S. rate hike grew, Reuters reported. Nebius now answers to the Federal Reserve almost as much as to its customers.

The next phase of this trade will likely reward whoever can still borrow cheaply, not whoever builds fastest. Nebius reports third-quarter results on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, according to StockAnalysis’s estimate.

The number to watch is how much of 2027’s buildout customers prepay, because every prepaid dollar is one Nebius never borrows at CoreWeave’s prices.
