Whether you’ve got a big house out in the country, have a lot of visitors, or leave your kids with a babysitter once in a while, it’s understandable that you might want an indoor security cam to keep an eye on things when you’re not around. And a lot of people simply find them fun. Home security systems are in many respects smarter and more user-friendly than they’ve ever been; with the right equipment and software, you can build your setup one product at a time and add cameras at any time.

If you’re interested in giving home surveillance a try, Amazon’s got a great deal on a $60 pair of Mysight 2K Pan-and-Tilt Security Cameras, which can be yours for just $33 at the moment.

The Mysight CA63 camera offers a 360-degree horizontal rotation and a 114-degree vertical tilt. It plugs right into the wall without any need for batteries and can be controlled remotely with your smartphone via the app. It allows for two-way talk with a built-in microphone and speaker, so you can interact with visitors (or potential intruders) in real time. It captures video at 2K high-definition resolution in MP4 video format.

Its motion-detection software should distinguish between human beings, animals, pets, packages, delivery vehicles, and so on. You’ll get real-time notifications on your phone when motion alerts the camera, and you can check in to make sure all is well right then and there. With a compatible SD card, you can store up to 256 gigabytes of video on the camera — or you can subscribe for a cloud-storage account for $3.99 per month, which also includes a handful of other premium security features.

“This is a great little camera for peace of mind,” wrote one reviewer.”I got this mainly to keep an eye on our dog while we’re out, but it’s turned out to be useful for way more than that. The picture is clear, and being able to pan around from my phone is super handy. The voice-changer feature made me laugh at first, but it’s kind of fun; it adds a touch of privacy. Setup was easy, and it’s been working smoothly since. This is worth it for anyone who wants a simple way to check in on things at home.”
