Designed as a major time-saver, Amazon’s new feature rollout is sure to please customers.

Amazon announces exciting new time-saving feature

Amazon confirmed the new service on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, sharing details about the perk on its blog.

”Our number one mission at Fire TV is getting you to what you want to watch — fast. Today’s launch builds on that mission with this new AI-powered feature,” the post read.

It went on to describe the new feature as follows.

“Just describe a movie scene like you would to a friend, and Alexa+ will jump directly to that specific moment — no more searching required. This feature joins Fire TV’s growing suite of AI capabilities, enhancing personalized recommendations based on customers’ viewing preferences and subscriptions, while helping them discover content they want to watch even faster.”

How does the new Amazon Fire TV video search work?

As Amazon’s blog post made clear, using the feature is incredibly easy and intuitive. Simply describe for Alexa+ the scene you want to watch, and Fire TV will jump straight to that moment.

The post also offered specific examples of how it could work, such as asking Alexa to take you right to the “card” scene in “Love Actually” or directly to the “boulder chase scene” in “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”

This is sure to be helpful for people who want to rewatch their favorite movie scenes, or even for those who fall asleep in the middle of a movie, as they can describe exactly what they remember about the scene that was playing before they dozed off.

In which movies can users try the new Amazon Fire TV search feature?

According to Amazon, the feature will work on:

  • Tens of thousands of indexed scenes found within thousands of movies that are available to watch on Amazon Prime.
  • Movies that are included in a Prime membership or movies that you either bought or rented from Prime Video.

Amazon also expects to roll out the feature on television shows very soon. However, the one downside is that the feature only works for users with:

  • A Fire TV device
  • A Prime subscription or a subscription to Prime Video
  • Access to Alexa+, which is included for Prime subscribers, and which will soon be available to users as a standalone subscription option

Users will appreciate Amazon’s new technology

Reddit users’ comments suggest Amazon’s newly released Fire TV search technology is likely to be popular.

In fact, only a year ago, a Reddit poster started a thread asking if there was a “way to skip to a specific actor’s scenes on Amazon Prime.” This new service should make it easy for customers to do just that.

This is not the first AI technology Amazon has introduced to enhance its Prime Video service, either. The company previously rolled out AI-produced video recaps for some series, offering users “compelling, comprehensive season recaps to bring viewers up to speed on their favorite stories.”

It’s clear the company is committed to using artificial intelligence to enhance the Prime experience, and this trend is likely to continue for the foreseeable future.
