Beloved Disney World attraction reopens, updated after long delay

Disney World has been undergoing a ton of changes lately.

The iconic Splash Mountain was replaced with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure last year, while Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed for an extended refurbishment, which could include some huge changes, including potentially a new track system.

Cars Land is also being added to the park for the first time, bringing the magic of Radiator Springs to life, and Villains Land is underway as well. Plus, even Country Bear Musical Jamboree has been given a modern upgrade.

Fans have mixed feelings about all the changes happening to longstanding favorites, especially the elimination of the Liberty Square Riverboat, which has long been a Magic Kingdom icon.

There’s also been some annoyance at the number of rides and attractions that are currently closed, or closing, across all of the Disney parks. This, of course, limits what there is to do and makes wait times longer on the rides left open.

That’s why it will come as a welcome relief to hear that one favorite attraction that has been closed for months quietly opened its doors this past weekend, giving users the chance to visit it once again. Of course, it’s opening with a new addition as well.

Disney World attraction reopens its doors

Disney World visitors were delighted to see that the Magic Kingdom attraction became available again June 29, since there was no formal announcement that it would be coming back so soon.

Instead, when park guests arrived or opened their apps, they were surprised to discover that The Hall of Presidents was once again offering show times. The Hall of Presidents has been closed since January 2025, when it shut its doors to make adjustments to the fact that the country had elected President Donald Trump to office.

The Hall of Presidents is a theater attraction found in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom. It features animatronic figures that represent all of the presidents.

With President Trump’s inauguration, the Hall of Presidents shut its doors to relocate the figure of President Joe Biden so the current leader could be highlighted.

The lobby of the Hall of Presidents had already opened several weeks ago, giving guests the chance to see its historical exhibits.

Now, however, the show has show times again for the first time in five months, so more park visitors can take the time to see a little bit of American history in live-action form — and enjoy the air conditioning while they’re at it.

Disney has seen an increase in bookings lately, making opening new attractions essential

In its most recent earnings call for the first quarter of 2025, Disney commented that it expected strong books throughout the end of 2025, including during the summer season. The company has also noted recent increases in spending at theme parks.

With more people coming to the parks, Disney desperately needs more attractions open to avoid ever-increasing wait times that occur when there are fewer options for things to do at the park.

Disney is also competing with the opening of the new Epic Universe at Universal, which means it needs to make sure it has enough rides and attractions to entice people to choose its parks over newer offerings.

The re-opening of The Hall of Presidents provides access to one of Disney’s more unique attractions, so it may be just the thing that gets some longtime fans back into the parks.
