China says consumption activity is improving but consumer confidence remains weak

It doesn’t look like there’s much offered in the presser here. In case you missed it, the main details were announced over the weekend already. The plan includes focusing on increasing income for workers to improving the consumption environment amid a shift towards a more consumption-driven growth model in the economy.

Once again, it all sounds good on paper with Beijing acknowledging issues plaguing households. But can they manifest that into better handling of social issues and also the property market (which indirectly plays into consumption)? We’ll see.
