Egos aside, it is still a positive development no matter who decided to take the first step to engage. The question though is, will it eventually lead to anything? As much as this first step in agreeing to talk is vital, it’s another thing to expect any quick resolution to the current situation. I would expect talks to drag on for quite a while but will there be scope to lower the 145% tariffs in the meantime?
