Home Depot has about 472,400 employees, whom they refer to as associates, according to its 2025 annual report. Its fiscal 2025 ended on February 1, 2026. 

Those workers are scattered across its offices and 2,359 stores throughout the U.S. (including Puerto Rico and the territories of the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam), Canada, and Mexico. Just 324 of its stores, or 13.7%, are located in Canada and Mexico.

The company’s headquarters are in Atlanta, Georgia.

Home Depot’s workforce has grown significantly over the years. In 2015, it had around 385,000 associates at its offices and 2,274 stores.

What is Home Depot’s revenue per employee?

Home Depot reported net sales of $164.6 billion in fiscal 2025. Based on 472,400 employees, that puts its revenue per employee at $348,609. 

By comparison, Apple — the second-largest publicly traded company by market value, which operates retail stores in many countries — generated $2.5 million in revenue per employee based on its 2025 data. 

Who are the highest and lowest-paid employees at Home Depot?

Home Depot’s executives are among its highest-paid employees. Ted Decker, the CEO, is paid the most — his 2024 base salary was $1.4 million. Stock options and cash awards boosted his total compensation to $15.57 million. 

Among vice presidents, Ann-Marie Campbell, senior executive vice president of U.S. stores and operations, made $1 million in salary, but her total compensation was $6.45 million.

The average Home Depot customer service/sales associate, who greets and engages with customers at its stores, makes around $39,098 per year, or $18.80 an hour, as of early April 2026, according to ZipRecruiter, a jobs review website.

Employees who have participated in the Home Depot’s stock purchase program have seen their equity grow in value. In the past decade, the company’s stock price has more than doubled. In its early years, Home Depot minted millionaires among its workforce who participated in the retailer’s stock plans. 

In 2021, Home Depot said that about 90% of store leadership had begun their careers as hourly associates.

Home Depot’s CEO pay ratio

Home Depot’s CEO pay ratio (which compared the CEO’s annual total compensation to that of the median employee) was 443 to 1 for fiscal 2024 as reported in its 2025 proxy statement. The CEO’s total compensation was $15,574,678 for fiscal 2024. The median compensation of its associates was just $35,196.

By comparison, Nvidia, which is the largest publicly traded company in the world, had a significantly lower CEO pay ratio of 166 to 1, which is due in part to the company having fewer employees — at about 42,000 in its fiscal 2026.
