Upon stepping onto its colorful streets, jazz music can be heard from every corner, and the delicious aroma of beignets from Café du Monde makes even non-breakfast eaters want to wait in a two-block-long line to try them fresh.

An iconic New Orleans restaurant opens in the French Quarter
Palace Café has been an iconic New Orleans establishment since its inception in 1991. It is located inside Werlein’s music building in the corner of the famous French Quarter.
This restaurant is the first of seven sister restaurants operated and owned by the Dickie Brennan & Co. restaurant group, which also includes Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse, Bourbon House, Tableau, Acorn Café, The Commissary, Pascal’s Manale, and Audubon Clubhouse.

Palace Café is a New Orleans classic known for its gourmet Creole food, crafted cocktails, live music, and light-up sign at the entrance, which can be seen from miles away.
However, a tumultuous lease dispute has led to the end of a three-and-a-half-decades legacy.
Palace Café reveals the reason behind its shocking closure
Palace Café on New Orleans’ Canal Street announced it will permanently close on July 7 after 34 years of being one of the city’s most iconic restaurants.
The sudden announcement was made via Facebook post that day, taking an entire community by storm.
Along with a heartfelt message saying goodbye after many years of unforgettable memories, Palace Café revealed that the abrupt closure was not done willingly.

As stated in the post, a recent court ruling concerning the restaurant’s 35-year lease has prevented it from continuing operations at its 605 Canal location.
Although it must close for now, Palace Café is not ready to give up and is appealing the decision, as it plans to continue with the restaurant’s legacy.
“We’re not ready to say Palace Café is gone forever. Should the right opportunity arise, we will welcome it with open arms,” the post stated.
Luckily, Palace Café has a sister restaurant across the street that will continue serving guests and running business as usual, as will the six other restaurants operated by Dickie Brennan & Co.
