There are certain things Costco does differently from other retailers.
First, it charges a membership fee to get in the door. Most stores are happy to let anyone in to shop, whereas Costco charges a $65 or $130 annual fee, depending on your membership tier.

To be fair, it has to, since shoppers are paying a fee to get in. But the reason so many members continue paying for Costco access year after year is that they feel they’re getting great value for their money.
To this end, Costco has one of the best return policies in the world of retail. With very limited exceptions, members can return any item for a full refund — no questions asked.
Costco also makes a point to set strict standards for product quality and price. Simply put, if it can’t sell an item at a low enough price point, the company won’t carry it in stores.

Costco is reassessing its warehouse club hours
Costco recognizes that a big part of the customer experience is having access to the store at convenient times.
Earlier this year, Costco extended its gas station hours. Members can now fill up their cars earlier in the morning and later in the day.

During the company’s last earnings call, Costco execs confirmed that expanding fuel station hours led to an uptick in gasoline sales. CEO Ron Vachris also said that in light of that success, the company is now looking at potentially extending operating hours for Costco warehouse club stores.
Costco also recently announced that it’s restoring a major benefit for Executive members — early shopping hours. Depending on your local store, you may soon be able to get in the door 30 or 60 minutes early if you have the higher-tier membership.
Costco will open to customers on Juneteenth
Costco recognizes that having regular access to its stores is important. For this reason, it tries to close sparingly.

Costco closes down for seven major holidays during the year:
- New Year’s Day
- Easter Sunday
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
The good news, though, is that Costco is open on Juneteenth this year.
It’s still a good idea to confirm store hours with your local Costco location.
A number of retailers that are staying open on Juneteenth are operating under a more limited schedule, so it’s always wise to call ahead — especially if you’ve got a bit of a drive on your hands.
Still, if you have the day off on Juneteenth, heading to Costco should be an option. Just be mindful of the fact that you may not be the only person who has that idea.
Just as Costco stores can be notoriously crowded on Saturdays and Sundays, so too might you find that it’s hard to move through the aisles or get a parking spot if you shop on Juneteenth.
