Las Vegas Strip casinos have closed several classic performer residencies this year, and more artists will be closing engagements through the end of the year.
Many of these residency stars will close their residencies to make way for new residencies down the road.

Most recently, hard rock superstar band Joan Jett & the Blackhearts closed their first-ever residency at the House of Blues at MGM Resorts International’s Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Las Vegas on June 21.

The “I Love Rock ‘N Roll” singer launched her career 50 years ago in in 1975 with the groundbreaking all-women’s band The Runaways, but it took 50 years before Jett would open her first Vegas residency.
Red Rocker Sammy Hagar closed his nine-show The Best of All Worlds Tour – The Residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM on May 17, performing solo hits like “I Can’t Drive 55;” Van Halen hits like “Right Now” and “Why Can’t This Be Love;” and the Waboritas classic “Mas Tequila.”
And pop singer Josh Groban wrapped up his five-show exclusive Gems residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on the same day Hagar did on May 17. Groban called his Gems residency at the Colosseum “my first ever Exclusive Las Vegas Engagement” on his Facebook post.
Superstars close residencies
Country superstar Brad Paisley closed his “One Man Six Strings” residency at the Wynn Las Vegas Encore Theater on May 10 just before launching his new “Truck Still Works World Tour.”
Paisley opened his “One Man Six Strings” acoustic residency with five shows Oct. 18-19 and Dec. 6-8, 2024, at the Encore. He also performed at the Encore Theater for acoustic shows April 14-15, 2023, as well as two shows each at the Encore in November 2022, March 2022, and June 2021.
The World’s Greatest Party Band, The B-52s, closed its Love Shack residency at the Venetian Theater at The Venetian Las Vegas on April 19. It was forced to cancel its April 16 show as singer Cindy Wilson was unable to perform with a case of the flu.
Country superstar Carrie Underwood ended her long-running “Reflection: The Las Vegas Residency” shows at the Resorts World Theater at Resorts World Las Vegas after 71 shows, finishing on April 12.

Janet Jackson closes Vegas residency
Finally, legendary pop icon Janet Jackson revealed that her six residency shows at Resorts World Las Vegas in September 2025 will be her final shows on the engagement, according to a July 8 statement.

The six residency shows, announced in May as an extension to her engagement, are scheduled for Sept. 10, 13, 14, 17, 19, and 20 in the 5,000-seat Resorts World Theater.

Tickets, which range from $83 in the balcony to $1,459 for the front row, are available on AXS.com.
Jackson has sold out many of the first 16 shows on her Janet Jackson: Las Vegas residency at Resorts World, including the first four shows Dec. 30-31, 2024; and Jan. 3, and 4.
The residency continued for six shows Feb. 5-15 and another six shows May 21-31, 2025.
The pop singer’s previous Vegas Strip residency was her “Metamorphosis” show at MGM Resorts International’s Park MGM from May 17-Aug. 17, 2019.
Jackson, who has won 11 American Music Awards, five Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, received the Icon Award at the 2025 American Music Awards on May 26.
