Sphere Entertainment’s spectacular concert venue Sphere Las Vegas has hosted some of the most popular bands in the world in its 18,600-seat magical globe since opening on Sept. 29, 2023, with its first headliner, U2, for its U2/UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere residency.
U2 performed 40 sold-out shows on its residency that ended on March 2, 2024, and generated a $244.5 million in ticket sales.

Sphere next presented a short engagement featuring popular jam band Phish performing four sold-out shows April 18-21, 2024. Sphere and Phish have not said whether the band will return for another engagement at the venue.

Lengendary jam band Dead & Company launched its Dead Forever residency on May 16, 2024, for 30 sold-out shows ending on Aug. 10, 2024, then returned on March 20, 2025, for 18 more shows which concluded on May 17, 2025.
The popular jam band that features its current band lineup of original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, along with John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti, and Jay Lane, currently hold the record for the most performances of any artist with 48 residency shows.
Legendary rock band the Eagles followed the jam band with the launch of their Sphere residency on Sept. 20, 2024, and has extended the engagement to 44 shows with the last scheduled show on Nov. 8, 2025.
Eagles can play Sphere residency forever, promoter says
The band has not revealed when it is ending its residency, and the Sphere’s management has said they can perform in the venue as long as they wish. Expect the Eagles to continue their residency in 2026 and break Dead & Company’s record.
Legendary superstar 1990s boy band The Backstreet Boys has signed on for its 21-show “Into the Millennium” residency at Sphere Las Vegas that runs from July 11 until Aug. 24, 2025.

Finally, country superstar singer Kenny Chesney, who opened his residency on May 22, 2025, closed his groundbreaking Sphere Las Vegas residency on June 21 with a message to his fans that he will be returning to the spectacular music venue in summer 2026.

Chesney, who is the first country artist to perform at the Sphere, performed the final show of a 15-show run at the Sphere, and after the show, he said the venue’s promoters had asked him to return to continue his residency in summer 2026.

“Hey everybody, we just finished our last show at Sphere here this summer. I want to thank you guys for all the love, the energy, the passion, for loving this music so much, and I want to let you know we’ve been invited back for next summer, summer of 26, and we’re coming. If you guys come, we’ll come. So, thank you very much. We’ll see you next summer here at Sphere,” Chesney said in an Instagram video following the last show.
Chesney also posted a confirmation on Instagram on June 22 that he would return to Sphere Las Vegas in 2026.
“This Summer at @SphereVegas was so magical. We are gonna do it again next summer in 2026. Details later on this year. What a blast this was. Thanks to everyone who came to see us in Vegas. We are so grateful! Let’s do it again. KC #Summertime26 #IGoBack26,” Chesney wrote in the Instagram post.
