With airlines in the full swing of announcing new routes for 2026, most are choosing to invest in new destinations not served by other airlines, as well as tried-and-true cities that see strong travel numbers year after year during certain periods.
In the coming months, American Airlines will increase frequencies to Nassau, Eleuthera, and Freeport in The Bahamas, while also launching a new route to South Bimini Airport (BIM) from Miami on Valentine’s Day in 2026.
JetBlue Airways has also just announced five new flights to the Puerto Rican capital of San Juan from different U.S. cities for the upcoming spring.
Based out of Denver, budget airline Frontier Airlines has also just dropped a spate of new flights that it will start running throughout March and April.
These include three new flights to Cancun International Airport (CUN) from Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, and Chicago’s Midway Airport (MDW).

The Charlotte flight will start on March 6 and run three times a week while the other two will begin a day later on March 7 and run daily throughout the year.
Frontier is also making a major breakthrough into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) with six new flights launching from March 6 to 26. The cities include Nashville and Memphis in Tennessee, Des Moines in Iowa, Omaha in Nebraska, Milwaukee in Wisconsin, and Indianapolis.
With Frontier unveiling a total of 23 new routes, other new service includes a flight to Tampa International Airport (TPA) from Norfolk in Virginia, as well as four new flights to Orlando International (MCO) from Tulsa in Oklahoma, Little Rock in Arkansas, Salt Lake City in Utah, and Richmond in Virginia.
Budget carrier Frontier Airlines was founded in 1994 but launched its first international flight to Cancun in 2019.

Frontier promises travelers “more affordable options” for spring break travel
While some of the routes are between two Midwestern cities seeing strong travel demand, the majority are from smaller secondary cities to various warm destinations in the United States and, in the case of Cancun, Mexico.
Frontier is also launching four new flights into Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL) in Florida.
“As we look ahead to 2026, there’s a lot to be excited about […] and we’re thrilled to kick things off with the announcement of these new routes, giving travelers even more affordable options as they plan their spring breaks next year,” Frontier Vice President of Network and Operations Josh Flyr said in a statement.

To promote the new routes, Frontier is offering promotional rates starting at $39 one way for the flight between Raleigh-Durham and Fort Lauderdale and going up to $99 for the international flights to Cancun.
To take advantage, travelers need to book the flights on the Frontier website before 11:59 p.m. EST on Dec. 10 for travel between March 6 and April 13.
Discount rates should automatically come up when searching for the destinations (the discount rates will appear only for certain days of the week during off-peak periods, but should apply to both one-way or round-trip flights).
