Many popular chicken chains thought they had gotten ahead of the McDonald’s Snack Wrap rerelease by launching their own, but none compare to the original’s fame.

The McDonald’s Snack Wrap was introduced nationwide in 2006 and quickly became a fan favorite. However, after nearly a decade, the company ultimately discontinued it due to operational issues in 2016.

The Snack Wraps consist of crispy chicken, shredded cheese, and lettuce, all wrapped inside a tortilla.

Although this might have been the best decision for the business at the time, customers begged McDonald’s to bring back the Snack Wrap for years, causing the fast-food chain to return it for a limited time across select locations nationwide in 2020.

But fans’ joy was short-lived because the Snack Wrap again disappeared from the McDonald’s menu by the end of that year.

McDonald’s teases the Snack Wrap release date

Years passed without no mention of the Snack Wrap until McDonald’s (MCD) announced in February that it was planning the nationwide return of the popular menu item, along with other chicken-focused offerings. It didn’t provide a specific date for the relaunch, however.

Two months later, McDonald’s made a cryptic post on all its social media platforms with the date “snack wraps 0x.14.2025,” building excitement around the highly anticipated release.

The post created mass speculation around the potential date for the relaunch, with many trying to guess the official date and some even claiming they had figured it out. Still, McDonald’s didn’t confirm any rumors.

McDonald’s reveals the official date for the Snack Wrap return

After months of teasing the Snack Wrap relaunch, McDonald’s has finally announced the official date, and it’s only a few weeks away.

The fast-food giant revealed via an Instagram post featuring a carousel of photos that Snack Wraps will be available nationwide across all McDonald’s locations beginning July 10, writing “snack wrap 07.10.2025.”

However, this official date doesn’t match the tease McDonald’s posted a few weeks back.

The photos explained the surprising change of plans, with screenshots of a typed Notes app note.

The note, which the social media manager claimed to have written, stated that they “made 486 decks on ‘reasons why to bring back the Snack Wrap.'”

The post then provided context regarding the date switch.

“Today I woke up with an even greater feeling of gratitude and pride because finally after 9 years, I get to announce the day the Snack Wrap returns. I know I posted 0x.14.2025 a few weeks ago but I wanted to see if they could come back even sooner. So I asked the boss and he said ‘OKAY LET’S DO IT?!?!!'” writes the note. “It’s the honor of my lifetime to finally say…the Snack Wrap is back because of YOU. See you 07.10.2025,” they added.
