Although Tesla’s Supercharger takes around an hour to fully charge, most people don’t have one installed at home or live near a regular Tesla charging station.

Because Elon Musk saw that there is a gap that has yet to be filled in his Tesla business, he is entering a new venture. This time, it involves hospitality so EV owners no longer have to wait for their cars to charge, with nothing else to do but twiddle their fingers.

Elon Musk teases the opening of a Tesla restaurant and charging station
In 2018, Musk took to the social media platform X, which he now owns, to announce that his company, Tesla ( (TSLA) ), would build an innovative charging station restaurant but provided no further details or updates.Â
Five years later, Musk’s words were not in vain. The construction process began in September of 2023 after a building permit application was filed and approved the year prior.Â
However, it’s now nearly two years later. Since then, thousands of Cybertrucks have been recalled, Tesla stock has dropped over 50% since December, and the restaurant remains under construction.

Although an official opening date has yet to be announced, once Musk’s new hospitality venture is finished, it will feature a Tesla Supercharging station in a parking lot area, a two-story restaurant with two huge movie screens, and various dining areas.
This new construction combines the retro aspects of a 1950s diner and a drive-in movie theater, giving them a futuristic twist that matches the modernity and innovation of a Tesla.Â
Tesla entering the hospitality field may boost growth and increase revenue
The Tesla restaurant is located on Santa Monica Boulevard, one of Los Angeles’ most popular locations, which could make this construction a potential tourist attraction and Tesla owners’ holy grail. The best part is that the Tesla diner will be open 24 hours a day, so customers can enjoy all the amenities whenever their car needs to be charged.

This hospitality venture is a way for the company to generate more revenue since customers are more likely to spend more money buying food than they would be sitting in their car while it charges. This can be a great source of income to mitigate the automotive revenue Tesla has already lost from the recent softening in car sales. Â
If this Tesla diner is successful, not only would it help boost the company’s growth and brand awareness, but it would also increase the chances for more to be built nationwide, bringing this innovation to more Tesla owners who currently have to scroll on their phones to waste time while their car charges.Â
