Why we love this deal

When you furnish your backyard, you’d typically buy separate items for storage and for leisure. That’s why we’re so impressed with the Clouddwell Metal Storage Shed and Pergola, which is on sale at Walmart during a Flash deal for just $266. For such an unusual item that serves not one but two important functions, this is a stellar deal, especially after you look at the market and see that similar setups can cost as much as $1,500.

While this two-in-one shed and pergola combo does require assembly, it’s worth your time. Constructed of heavy-duty galvanized steel, you can rest assured that it isn’t going anywhere on a windy day. It ships free and arrives in less than a week, which is even more impressive.

Why do shoppers love it?

I’ve written about plenty of outdoor furniture in my time as a writer and editor at TheStreet, and this shed and pergola combo is one of the most unique items I’ve ever seen. It solves multiple problems for a low price, and it costs hundreds of dollars less than similar products sold by other retailers. It’s highly customizable to boot, so you can use it as a tool shed, work area, storage space, and hangout spot.

This unit measures 153 inches long, 50 inches wide, and 73 inches high. The storage unit portion is 76.65 inches long, providing plenty of room to stash away everything from bikes and kayaks to a lawnmower or a snow blower. The shed roof is sloped and features drainage grooves so water will flow off with ease, making sure anything you’re storing stays dry. It features air vents for circulation as well, and the door fastens with a security latch that has a hole to add a padlock.

The sturdy frame is windproof, waterproof, and snowproof, built to withstand Grade 6 winds on the Beaufort scale (24-30 miles per hour). One downfall to this two-in-one shed and pergola is that it does not come with a floor. If you’d prefer a study base underneath, you can place it on pre-installed concrete, wood, or gravel to offset this issue. The open section with the overhang is roomy at 25 feet, leaving plenty of room for a patio set that seats up to four or an outdoor grill. You can also use it to store bikes or anything else you’d like to keep out of the rain.

Not only would this shed work well on its own in a backyard, but it would also make for a nice poolhouse without having to spend thousands for a contractor. The shed is the perfect space for organizing pool toys, cleaning equipment, and spare parts, while the connected pergola offers plenty of shade for lounging poolside.

This unit does require assembly, and considering the size, we’d advise setting a few hours aside and having at least one other person help. It does come with pre-labeled parts and a step-by-step manual, and the manufacturer encourages shoppers to reach out if they need help putting it together.

The pros and cons of a $266 2-in-1 shed and pergola

Pros

  • Fulfills multiple needs: This two-in-one shed and pergola offers both storage and leisure space, which is unusual, especially under $300.
  • Sturdy material: It’s made of galvanized steel and can withstand intense weather conditions.
  • Ships free: This is an impressive perk for such a heavy item.

Cons

  • No floor: Some shoppers may not like that it doesn’t come with a floor. Interlocking deck tiles are an easy fix for this.
  • Long assembly time: One shopper said that it took several hours to assemble.

The two-in-one shed and pergola combo has an average rating of four stars, but unfortunately, reviews are limited. One shopper wrote, “I hate/love this item. I say it this way because I loved the uniqueness, but hated the fact that it scratched easily. The plastic coating on it seemed to take away from its appearance, and the cover portion seemed to be lower than the rest of the shed; I would constantly bump my head on it. Overall, I would buy again (hopefully by then, improvements will be made).”
