One of the most often used items in my home is a folding wagon. Many people may not even own one of the handy gadgets, but after reading this, I hope you’ll take the plunge and finally get one. When I was little, the only wagons I ever saw were the traditional red toy wagons made from thin red steel. I remember hauling all of my toys, not to mention my friends, around the back yard and down the sidewalk. It was the best way to haul the most precious things in my life. Now that I’m an adult, I still use my wagon for many of those same reasons. The only difference is that I’ve got a highly upgraded wagon at this point, and my toys now include a beach canopy.
With the cost of groceries, gasoline, and just about everything else you want to shop for on the rise, pastimes that don’t cost a lot of money are flourishing at the moment. Camping, going to the beach, and picnics are rapidly gaining popularity. As a matter of fact, in 2022 over 50 million people participated in camping activities in the United States, and it’s no wonder. All of the aforementioned activities are fun, easy, and virtually free. However, each is made more enjoyable if you have a folding wagon to help carry the load, literally.

If you’re camping, you’ll need a way to transport food items to and from the vehicle, as you likely won’t want to leave them exposed when not in use. What’s more, a folding wagon can be a great holding place for lanterns, sports equipment, tools, or anything else that you want to keep nearby during a camping trip. If you have a picnic table, then rolling it underneath is the perfect way to keep it close but completely out of your way.
Speaking of picnics, a folding wagon is almost a necessity if you want to bring proper food and utensils along for a meal in the park. While small wicker baskets may look nice, they can’t possibly hold the amount of items as a full-sized wagon. What’s more, lugging a heavy basket full of food, plates, and utensils is far less practical if you don’t have something on wheels for smoother transport.
Another helpful use for a folding wagon is when you’re headed to the beach. After all, who wants to carry snacks, tents, beach chairs, inflatables, and everything else to the edge of the shore when you can just pull it behind you in a wagon? While a folding wagon can be ideal for a day at the beach, you’ll want to be sure you either plan to frequent a shoreline that has paved walkways or a boardwalk, or purchase a wagon that’s intended for sand. Such a wagon is also great for transporting little ones when you don’t want them to burn their feet on the hot sand.
